AI-Design Sprint Opportunity Mapping

Goal: Discover AI opportunities in your business.

For whom: This is exploring AI opportunities at early-stage.

Main steps:

  • Identifying Pain Points and Potentials: The team identifies based on the organisational diagram pain points and potentials, and if applicable discuss the status of AI in the organisation.

  • Matching business functions with AI: Participants match business functions and tasks with individual AI technology using the AI-Card Deck.

  • Teams develop solutions: In teams participants explore opportunity spaces, develop and iterate a range of concept ideas.

  • Evaluation and discussion: Together with the AI-Expert we summarise the AI-Design Sprint Opportunity Mapping and prioritise your AI opportunities.

Outcome: You have mapped and prioritised AI opportunities in your business

Duration: Half day

AI-Design Sprint Process Automation

Goal: Identification of opportunities for automating work processes in your company. Go from “high running costs” to “low running costs”.

Main steps:

  • In a pre session we map your processes and identify the ones with the most potential for AI augmentation to be further investigated in the following AI-Design Sprint Process Automation session.

  • Each team consisting of 4-5 members focusses on one identified process which is mapped out in process steps. The team matches the process steps with AI-technologies using cards, and create first solutions.

  • Teams visualise their solutions, seek feedback and iterate their solution – thus teams augment the entire process.

  • Teams evaluate their solutions using our evaluation canvas.

  • In an evaluation presentation session we summarise the results of the AI-Design Sprint Process Automation session, present the technical feasibility evaluated by our AI Expert resulting in a data strategy, and suggest next steps.

Outcome: You identified automation opportunities in your business

Duration: 1 day for main session, pre session 3 hrs, post session 2 hrs

AI-Design Sprint Product Amplification

Goal: Adding an AI technology layer on your existing product or service and thereby improving it dramatically. Go from “o.k. product” to “awesome product”.

Main steps:

  • In a pre session we define the person using the product and visualise how the person uses the product.

  • Matching the product or service with AI technology: Participants work in teams of 3-5 people. Each team focuses on one existing product or service. They match the steps while the user uses the product or service with AI categories and with individual AI technology using cards.

  • Forming solutions: Teams form first solutions, visualise them, seek feedback, iterate and prototype them in form of role plays.

  • Evaluation and presentation: Teams evaluate their solutions using our evaluation canvas. Then teams present their amplified products or services.

Outcome: You improved your product or service using AI

Duration: Half day for main session, pre session 2 hrs, post session 2 hrs

AI-Design Sprint Manufacturing Automation

Goal: Answering, which robot do we need for our manufacturing?

Instead of starting with technology we start with your manufacturing process and your needs. Instead of moving the responsibility to experts, the AI-Design Sprint Manufacturing Automation puts you in the drivers seat. It empowers you. Instead of someone presenting the automation strategy, you co-create it with experts. Instead of one presenting the solution, you give all stakeholders a voice in the development process.

We created it together with the design firm Regndans who are next door to many robotic companies and academia in robotics.

There might be ethical concerns to automation. We do it for two reasons:

To support small businesses

If production costs are low then anyone with a great product idea and a business plan can compete with the big companies. We love that.

To give companies the resources for true innovation

Platform companies like Facebook, Google, and Amazon have a lot of cash because their costs are low, that enables them to risk that money for innovation. Conventional companies don’t have that play money for innovation, their running costs are high. Automation is the way to get costs down, generating the resources necessary for innovation. We believe in the long run innovation by conventional companies will add much value to people’s lives. See the TED talk by Hans-Christian Boos. We would like to enable that.

AI-Design Sprint New Services

Goal: Developing new AI-based services.

Main steps:

  • In a pre session: together we define target group and the person to focus on

  • Matching the most important user need with AI technology: Participants work in teams of 3-5 people. Teams select the person they are designing a new service for. They identify the person’s most important user need or want and match it with individual AI technology using cards.

  • Forming solutions: Teams visualise their solutions, seek feedback and iterate.

  • Evaluation and presentation: Teams evaluate their solutions using our evaluation canvas. Then teams present their new AI-based services.

  • Evaluation by an AI expert: We summarise the AI-Design Sprint session and our AI Expert evaluates the technical feasibility. The result is a data strategy. Next steps are suggested. All this will be in form of a presentation.

Outcome: You developed new AI-based services

Duration: Half day for main session, pre session 2 hrs, post session 2 hrs
